Remedies

These are made from animal, plant and mineral substances. Many in their natural state are poisons and some of the animal remedies are made from diseased tissue such as tubercular or cancerous tissue. They are diluted many times until no material substance remains in the dilution. For some reason the greater the dilution, the stronger the therapeutic effect. However no toxic effect remains. The dilutions are used to medicate sugar pills, which the patient dissolves in his/her mouth. So the remedies are easy and pleasant to take.

Dosage depends upon the nature of the patient, the nature of the condition they have and the remedy prescribed. You may take the remedy daily, weekly, monthly or just once and wait. This may feel strange to patients who have been on regular medication for years but it does work.

Homoeopathic remedies stimulate the body to heal itself and one dose may be sufficient to start this process. The healing will continue until the patient recovers or the remedy is exhausted and another dose or a different remedy is needed. The process should be gentle and gradual which is why it may take several consultations to achieve the desired result.

Sometimes the remedy stirs up symptoms that have been suppressed in the past by conventional medicines or creams and these can recur and should be allowed to run their course. This can be uncomfortable or worrying for patients but I am available to reassure or suggest how to alleviate the symptoms. Any ‘aggravation’ as it is know is usually short lived.
