How do remedies work?
The fundamental principle of homoeopathy is that “like cures like”.

If you peel or cut an onion your eyes will run and in some cases smart, then your nose will run profusely. If you have a cold or an allergy and your eyes water and sting and your nose runs copiously then a dose of Allium cepa (onion) will alleviate the symptoms rapidly.

A nettle inflicts a nasty sting which itches and burns. Urtica urens made from the stinging nettle treats not only nettle stings but many stinging, burning and itching skin conditions e.g. urticaria, chicken pox, burns and scalds and the ill effects of eating shellfish.

So with homoeopathic prescribing you are matching the symptoms of the patient to the symptom picture of the remedy.
